The Plastiscines-Pas Avec Toi

The Plastiscines are an all girl rock band from France. The formed in 2007 and consist of Katty Besnard, Louise Basilien, and Anais Vandevyvere. They were signed by EMI for Virgin France and released their first and current album LP1 2007. They have been featured in Nylon magazine and Gossip Girl, where they were also guest performers. They have toured with Cobra Starship and were featured on the newest Panic! At the Disco album. Their current album About Love was released on Nylon Records in 2009.


La Vie en rose-Edith Piaf


Edith Piaf was a French singer who became known as France’s national popular singer. She was discovered in 1935 and rose to fame in France in the 1940s. Shortly after WWII, she became an internationally known artist. Her signature song La Vie en rose (written in 1945) was voted a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1998.  After 3 near fatal car crashes, Piaf became addicted to drugs and alcohol. She died of liver cancer in 1963 at age 47. She was portrayed by French actress Marion Cotillard in the movie La Vie en Rose in 2007.

Tegan and Sara-Northshore

Tegan and Sara are a Canadian indie rock/folk duo composed of twin sisters Tegan and Sara Quin. Both play guitar and keyboard and write their own music. Their first album Under Feet Like Ours was released in 1999. They are signed to Neil Young’s label Vapor Records. Their single Walking With A Ghost was covered by The White Stripes. They have released 7 studio albums and have toured with Neil Young, The Killers, Paramore, Death Cab For Cutie, City and Colour, Jack Johnson, and Weezer.

I got the chance to see Tegan and Sara perform twice when they opened for Paramore on the Honda Civic Tour in 2010. They were amazing.

       

      


Alanis Morissette-Ironic

Alanis Morissette is a Canadian singer-songwriter. She released her debut album Alanis in 1991. Her third album, Jagged Little Pill, was released in 1995 and sold over 33 million copies worldwide. She has won 16 Juno Awards and 7 Grammy Awards. She is currently working on her 8th studio album.

Opeth is a Swedish heavy-metal band formed in 1990 in Stockholm. Current members include Mikael Akerfeldt, Martin Mendez, Martin Axenrot, Fredrik Akesson, and Joakim Svalberg. Their music incorporates progressive, folk, blues, classical, jazz, black metal, and death metal. They have released 10 studio albums, 2 of which became popular in the U.S.-Ghost Reveries and Watershed, which peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The Cardigans are Swedish band formed in 1992 in Jonkoping and released their debut album Emmerdale in 1994. They are comprised of Nina Persson, Peter Svensson, Magnus Sveningsson, Bengt Lagerberg, and Lars-Olaf Johansson. They experienced great success worldwide with their singles Lovefool and Erase and Rewind.
